  • Totally Fun!

    I never drove a motorcycle before today.  I signed up for the motorcycle safety course yesterday, and by a twist of fate I was able to get into it starting today.  It was a blast, I got 100% on my first written exam (it was pretty tough --no joke!  --and I was the first one done!).  Using the course's bikes, we learned how to start and stop, some maneuvering twists and turns, weaving in and out of cones etc.  We have more training tomorrow and then the driving portion of the drivers license exam.  I still have to schedule the state written exam.  But that should not be too difficult and WooHoo, I will have a motorcycle license!  Now I am really stoked and want to get my own bike (I probably won't).  Anyhow.  That's all folks.

  • Moments in Life

    I got this email, since I do not forward, I am posting here, I really like it.

    There are moments in life when you miss someone
    so much that you just want to pick them from
    your dreams and hug them for real!

    When the door of happiness closes, another opens;
    But often times we look so long at the
    Closed door that we don't see the one,
    Which has been opened for us.

    Don't go for looks; they can deceive.
    Don't go for wealth; even that fades away.
    Go for someone who makes you smile,
    Because it takes only a smile to
    Make a dark day seem bright.
    Find the one that makes your heart smile.

    Dream what you want to dream;
    Go where you want to go;
    Be what you want to be,
    Because you have only one life
    And one chance to do all the things
    You want to do.

    May you have enough happiness to make you sweet,
    Enough trials to make you strong,
    Enough sorrow to keep you human and
    Enough hope to make you happy.

    The happiest of people don't necessarily
    Have the best of everything;
    They just make the most of
    Everything that comes along their way.

    The brightest future will always
    Be based on a forgotten past;
    You can't go forward in life until
    You let go of your past failures and heartaches.

    When you were born, you were crying
    And everyone around you was smiling.
    Live your life so at the end,
    You're the one who is smiling and everyone
    Around you is crying.

  • The Car.....

    I am in the midst of fixing up my old '95 Mitsubishi Eclipse.  I want it to be ready for when D. gets home.  I think he will be using it as his daily driver until he gets his new '08 Harley Davidson Soft Tail Heritage Classic.   So....the Eclipse.... I got the windows re-tinted, new paging alarm system, painted the rear windshield wiper, got new floor mats, ordered a custom dash mat and custom neoprene seat covers.  The best thing is I figured out how to replace the rain-guards (a piece of body molding that goes over the windows) -- they have been sitting on the floor of the garage for about a year because we could not figure out how to do them.  I got a quote on a new stereo and two new amps, oooohhhhhh that car would be THUMPIN' --oh how people would hate that stereo system---others, some, would be jealous, but it would drip with smooth sounding tunes.... my newest purchase would sound ooohh so good in there... Justin Timberlake, Future Sex/Love Sounds.
    I found this place near my work that will do a complete detail, hand wash/wax, shampoo, leather condition etc for about $60.  That would be so nice, I think I plan to do that soon.

  • Heros

     http://www.flashdemo.net/gallery/wake/index.htm

    I am so excited that D. will be home soon. I just got back from a training event in Missouri. It was really nice because I got to see my Grandfather.  My grandfather is a WWII hero.  Below is some historical information about this brave man:

    Born: 1925 Saline Co, Blackburn, MO, Married: Una C. 7-28-1945 to 1968, they had one daughter.

    AF ID # 37536845

        During WWII he was a B24 Liberator Left waist Gunner 50 Cal with the 15th AF, 55th Bomb Wing, 464th Bomb Group (H), Foggia, Italy.  Upon arriving in Italy he asked to be reassigned to another crew due to personal conflict between he and the crew.  He became a substitute crewman on flight crews.  On the day he was shot down Monday, Jun 26 1944, Vienna Austria he rejoined his original crew to substitute for himself.  This was the crew's first mission and his 10th mission (He was promoted to SSG on 16 June 1944).
        The plane sustained an impact only inches away from my grandfather which damaged the ability for the plane to increase it's elevation.  The men on the plane spent a great deal of time discussing their options and determined the plane would not be able to climb over the alps.  They reviewed the procedures for a parachute exit and as my grandfather exited the plane he watched another bomber spiraling to the earth in flames.  He and the other men jumped without injury.  He was captured by farmers in Austria and taken to
    local police station, identified himself as American and turned over to Germans.
    This was the 39th mission of the 464th BG  - to target the Florisdorf Oil Refinery and Oil Sidings
     Col Marshall Bonner, the Group Commander, was lost during same mission on 26 June 1944.

    Grandpa's POW Site: Stalag Luft 4 Gross-Tychow (formerly Heydekrug) Pomerania, Prussia (moved to Wobbelin Bei Ludwigslust) (To Usedom Bei Savenmunde) 54-16 4 Mar 1946

    On 6 Feb 1945, with other American Airmen marched 600 miles in 86 days during one of the cruelest winters on record.  After his liberation, he went to Paris, France with another young Airman who was from a neighboring town of Marshall, MO and during his R&R there he had his first intimate experience with a woman.

    The 464th Bomb Group in World War II in Action over the Third Reich by Michael Hill:  Monday, 26 June 1944: 677 B-17s and B-24s attack targets in the Vienna, Austria area, hitting an aircraft factory at Schwechat, marshaling yard at Vienna/Floridsdorf, and oil refineries at Korneuburg, Vienna/Floridsdorf, Moosbierbaum, Schwechat, Winterhafen, and Lobau; fighters fly 260+ sorties in support; an estimated 150 to 175 enemy fighters attack the formations; nearly 30 US aircraft (mostly bombers) are lost; US claims total 60+ enemy fighters.

  • Cool Math

    Here is a math trick so unbelievable that it will stump you.

    1. Grab a calculator. (You won't be able to do this one in your head)
    2. Key in the first three digits of your phone number (NOT the area code)
    3. Multiply by 80
    4. Add 1
    5. Multiply by 250
    6. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number
    7. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number again.
    8. Subtract 250
    9. Divide number by 2

    Do you recognize the answer?
